About this category
The Women in Finance Leadership Award recognises a woman whose leadership is shaping banking, investment, insurance or wider financial services. It celebrates sound commercial judgement, integrity under pressure and the ability to build teams and institutions that people trust with their money.
The winner will have delivered measurable results while raising standards, whether that means stronger risk management, better outcomes for clients, a more inclusive workplace, or opening the door for other women to progress in a sector where they remain under-represented at senior level.
Eligibility
- Open to women in senior or leadership roles in banking, investment, asset management, insurance, fintech, accountancy or corporate finance
- Must be based in, or have a significant presence in, the UK
- Achievements should fall within the last 12 to 24 months, set against a wider track record
- Self-nominations and third-party nominations are both welcome.
Judging criteria
- Leadership: vision, decision-making and the ability to lead through change or uncertainty
- Commercial Performance: measurable financial results for the business, fund or team
- Integrity and Governance: ethical standards, risk management and regulatory stewardship
- Client Outcomes: the difference made to the people and organisations served
- Influence: contribution to the sector, including advancing women in finance
Qualitative criteria
- Quality of judgement in difficult or high-stakes situations
- Strength of the team and culture built
- Mentoring and sponsorship of other women
- Reputation among clients, peers and regulators
- Commitment to responsible and sustainable finance
Metrics
- Revenue, profit or assets under management growth
- Portfolio, fund or book performance against benchmark
- Client growth, retention or satisfaction scores
- Risk, compliance or audit outcomes
- Team growth, promotion and retention figures
Additional criteria
Entries should include a short case study of a key achievement, supporting figures where they can be shared, and a testimonial from a colleague, client or board member. Commercially sensitive information will be treated in confidence by the judging panel.
